The construction of another academic institute will be implemented in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing. On August 24, Liangjiang New Area signed a cooperation agreement with Hunan University, to build the Chongqing Institute of Hunan University (CIHU) at the Chongqing Liangjiang Collaborative Innovation Zone.

The establishment of CIHU will be fueled by the economic and social development of Liangjiang New Area to meet the demand of the Double First-Class discipline construction of Hunan University. It aims to make full use of the technological advantages and the talent resources, concentrating on various fields, such as the technology of new energy power system and special light engines, the latest technology of shock absorption buffer for vehicles, updated intelligent information technology as well as the creative design of smart transport and travels.

Proven processing technology routines and advanced equipment platforms will be built with its introduced leading-edge technologies and teams. To practically apply the academic achievements made by universities and academies home and abroad as productive forces in Liangjiang New Area, CIHU will also provide support and serve as an incubator for scientific research. According to the agreement, Hunan University and Liangjiang New Area will make efforts to establish CIHU, improving it into a new high-end R&D institute. Established to accomplish tasks of "scientific research and development, technological innovation, public service, training of talented personnel as well as research achievements' application," CIHU will become influential and competitive nationwide.
