Chongqing- Since 2015, Xiushan, a Southeast county of Chongqing, has insisted on intensifying poverty alleviation to eradicate poverty and backwardness, and further improve its overall economic and social development. Five years later, the county's 16,800 households of over 70,000 poor citizens have reached poverty alleviation standards, which were successfully lifted out of poverty.

The Information Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government issued a press conference in Chongqing.

With abundant resources and an advantageous location, Xiushan is enriched in profound culture and beautiful scenery. This allows room for the promotion of industrial poverty alleviation, which has played a key role in the county's new transformation.

Roads made for poverty alleviation that cover poor villages.

Presently, the expansion of the industrial scale drives an establishment in a total of 960,000 acres of characteristic planting bases, including 380,000 acres of Chinese medicinal materials, 140,000 acres of tea, 230,000 acres of camellia, and 210,000 acres of citrus. Research shows that the acreage of tea and camellia bases ranks first in Chongqing, with over 11 million livestock and poultry produced annually.

Xiushan's tea industry helps local farmers increase their income.

"We would like to strengthen the linkage of interests between professional cooperatives and the poor," said Yeshun Xiang, the Secretary of CPC at Xiushan Tujia and Miao Autonomous County. "We are aiming to focus on cultivating pillar industries of the county, such as the production and publicity of local honeysuckle and tea, to increase the income of the poor through multiple channels."

The local production of Chinese herbal medicine is one way to eradicate poverty.

Specifically, 4.46 billion yuan of agricultural specialty products were sold through rural e-commerce, allowing 80% of poor households to become the suppliers of an e-commerce product directly.
