On October 13, the 2020 China Summit of Metro Operator was held in Chongqing.

The 14th Five-Year Plan period is crucial to the transformation and development of the country's urban rail transit industry and the improvement of operating and service quality. The key official of the Chongqing Rail Transit (Group) Co., Ltd. (the Group) said during the Summit that in the next five years, Chongqing would finish the next-generation information system for operation and production management and comprehensive operation control center (COCC), while creating smart systems for passenger services, operation and security management, etc. Meanwhile, the Group plans to build a 5G+ Smart Rail Transit Innovation Laboratory and the Chongqing branch of China Mobile, China Mobile (Shanghai) Industrial Research Institute, and other partners. The major research focuses will be facial recognition, united travel information services, AI customer services, and in-station accurate navigation.

Leaders from the Shanghai Shentong Metro Group, Beijing Mass Transit Railway Operation Corporation, and Shenzhen Metro Group also delivered keynote speeches, sharing ideas about the 14th Five-Year Plan period and exchanging opinions with attendees. The Group's key official concluded and offered three suggestions to companies engaging in the rail transit industry. First, they should adapt to public transport demands, being a supporter of the urban rail transit network. Second, they should respond to the country's development strategies by being a digital and smart transportation leader. Third, they should consistently integrate competitive resources, promoting the high-quality development of urban rail transit.

The Summit was established to realize the industry's sustainable development and provide a high-class and comprehensive interaction platform. Thanks to the China Association of Metros' preparation and implementation, the first session was held in 2017 in Shanghai. Leaders of metro operators from across the nation attend the annual event to co-develop interactive industrial growth mechanisms. Following Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou, Chongqing held the Summit this year as the Association's current chair.
