Sichuan and Chongqing Jointly Build Economic Corridor of Electronic Information Industry

The relatives in the electronic information industry from Sichuan and Chongqing signed a series of strategic cooperation agreements for the high-quality, coordinated development of co-building an economic corridor in the electronic information industry at Yibin, Sichuan Province, on October 29.

The cooperation agreements' target is to build an important national electronic information industry base, which also serves as high-end research and development and manufacturing base for global electronic information.

Electronic information is becoming a pioneer industry in the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.

In 2019, the electronic information industry's main business income in Sichuan exceeded one trillion yuan, and that of Chongqing topped 700 billion yuan. Their cooperation makes the scale of the industry rank among the forefront of the country.

Besides, industrial clusters in the two places are highly related and complementary, providing foundations and conditions for high-quality, coordinated development.

"There are foundations, potentials and prospects for promoting mutual integration, technical cooperation and market opening of the electronic information industry in Sichuan and Chongqing," said Zhong Liu, Deputy Director of Chongqing Economic and Information Technology Commission.

According to Yiming Pi, Deputy Director-General of Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Department, the cooperation between Sichuan and Chongqing will focus on key areas, including integrated circuits, new display, big data, Internet of Things, cloud computing, information security, BeiDou Navigation Satellite System and intelligent manufacturing, and carry out in-depth cooperation in integrated circuits, electronic parts and components, communication terminals, automotive electronics, electronic information new materials, electronic equipment, software, and other aspects.

The cooperation between Sichuan and Chongqing will focus on key areas, including integrated circuits, new display, big data, Internet of Things, cloud computing, information security, BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, and intelligent manufacturing.

"We are planning to build an economic corridor for the electronic information industry, an important national electronic information industry base and a high-end research & development and manufacturing base for global electronic information," said Pi.

He continued that, in the future, the high priorities of Sichuan and Chongqing will lie in enhancing industrial cooperation, promoting technical cooperation, building characteristic industrial clusters and cooperation and exchange platforms, and strengthening talent training and cooperation.

In this way, Sichuan and Chongqing will establish a long-term cooperation mechanism and expedite the transformation, upgrading, and quality development of Sichuan and Chongqing's electronic information industry.
