The 2020 CTA Tour Chongqing Southwest University Open Championships Wrapped up

On November 9, the 2020 CTA Tour—Chongqing Rural Commercial Bank Cup—Chongqing Southwest University Open Championships dropped the curtain at the Tennis Center of Southwest University in Beibei District, Chongqing. More than 200 tennis amateurs from all over the country participated in the game. This is the first time the game has been held in Chongqing. It is also an important move of Beibei District to promote university-region cooperation and become a tennis pioneer in western China. It was co-hosted by the Tennis Sports Management Center of General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Tennis Association (CTA), and the Administration of Sport of Chongqing, and undertaken by Southwest University and the Sports Development Center of Beibei District.

According to the Administration of Sport of Chongqing, the CTA Tour is a top IP event with China's proprietary intellectual property rights newly launched by the CTA this year and a heralded tennis IP event in China. The Open in Chongqing has provided a platform for elite amateurs, and the great upside potential for tennis enthusiasts, and an opportunity to participate in national events. It has also broken the barrier between professionals and amateurs, opened the career path for nationwide tennis players, and realized the effective consistency of domestic standards for the skills of tennis players with the event and the interconnection between domestic and foreign skill standards.

This game sets up 64 men's singles draws, 48 women's singles draw, 48 men's doubles draw, 28 women's doubles draw, and 32 mixed doubles draws. According to the rules, all programs are subject to the single-elimination system, while the one short set is applied for both singles and doubles. When the game score in a set is 4–4, players will engage in a 7-point tie-break to decide the set. In the end, the postgraduate Wang Zhen from Southwest University won the men's singles championship, and the amateur Yang Qian won the women's singles. Wang Zhen and He Qifeng, Tang Wenxi and Kang Yuan, and Shi Hongyu and Wang Yuze won the championship at men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles, respectively.
