Chongqing — The 3rd Global Summit Forum on Capsule Endoscopy (CEGS) was held in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on November 15, 2020. Around the summit theme-The Future Is Now, the guests shared and exchanged science, technology and academics, focusing on hot topics of capsule endoscopy.

The opening ceremony of the third Capsule Endoscopy Global Summit Held in Chongqing.

The summit was held in the form of a combination of online and offline, providing international scientific research and academic exchange platform to develop capsule endoscopy. Thousands of medical experts and scholars from more than 100 countries and regions worldwide gathered online and hundreds of domestic authoritative experts participated offline.

The summit attracted hundreds of domestic authoritative experts who participated offline.

Fabian Emura, President of World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) and Professor Zhang Shutian, former chairman of the Chinese Society of Digestive Endoscopy, and Professor Linghu Enqiang, current chairman of the Chinese Society of Digestive Endoscopy, delivered a speech for the opening ceremony. Professor Enqiang Linghu and the former president of WEO Jean-Francois Rey delivered academic speeches at the summit.

Fabian Emura, Chairman of World Endoscopy Organization (WEO), delivered an online speech.

At the summit, 17 global gastroenterology experts gave wonderful lectures to bring a panoramic academic feast of capsule endoscopy. The remote video connection and cloud dialogue between East and West experts have gathered global wisdom and power for digestion and prevention under the epidemic. The latest clinical research results of capsule endoscopy presented by them intensively reveal the development direction of global capsule endoscopy in the past year under the epidemic. One is the integration of 5G technology to realize remote contactless diagnosis of capsule endoscopy. Second is the Improvements in high-definition, frame rate, and wide-angle performance have brought about a leap in the quality of observation. The third is the use of AI for auxiliary diagnosis. The fourth is the adaptation of capsule endoscopy, and the scope of certification is further expanded.

Wang Jinshan, the Chairman of Jinshan Science and Technology Group, released new products at the conference.

In view of the above four development directions, Wang Jinshan, the Chairman of Jinshan Science and Technology Group, demonstrated at the summit that 5G technology-empowered capsule robots to conduct fully automatic remote diagnosis and examination and achieve no contact between doctors and patients. He said that the large bandwidth, high speed, and low latency of 5G technology provide technical support for fully automatic capsule robots in cross-regional diagnosis. Digestive patients do not need to go to the over-loaded top three hospitals at every turn. They only need to go to basic hospitals equipped with capsule robots to consult major experts. 5G remote diagnosis technology can ease the number of digestive patients in large hospitals and improve their medical treatment.

This summit also explored new forms and paths in the training and teaching of capsule endoscopy technology. Before the summit, the first National Capsule Endoscopy Skills Competition (Southwest Division) was also held. In addition, the Capsule Endoscopy Group of the Special Committee of Digestive Endoscopy of Chongqing Medical Association was established. The group will integrate global capsule endoscopy resources to promote capsule endoscopy teaching and research development in Chongqing.
