According to Walmart (China) Investment, Chongqing’s first Sam’s Club store will officially open on Longhu Lijia Tianjie at the end of December, which will also be its 30th store in China. What is special about membership stores? What will it bring to Chongqing?

The "paid membership system" model represented by Sam's Club has developed rapidly in China in recent years. Through accurately focusing on target groups, this will provide customers with targeted products and tailor-made services. 

According to Zhang Qing, Chief Purchasing Officer of Sam's Club China, Sam's Club currently has about 4,000 high-quality products from more than 30 countries and regions worldwide, including about 700 of its own brands.

Through the ways of global procurement and source management, the quality and price advantages of products can be achieved simultaneously. For example, a 6-inch tiramisu cake costs 88 yuan, an 18-inch pizza costs 66 yuan, and a bottle (300ml) of weakly alkaline natural mineral water costs less than 1 yuan.

According to Zhang, one of Sam's Club Chongqing Branch highlights that "Sam's Kitchen" will be set up, where star chefs demonstrate to members on-site, guiding them how to make quality cuisine through using the ingredients from Sam’s Club. The chef will also design delicious and easy-to-make "private menus" based on members' needs, feedback, and preferences.

In addition, The Chongqing store will also have a global shopping area, covering high-quality products brought in, along with Sam's procurement resources from the United States. Meanwhile, there will be a "glasses center," "hearing aid center," and "health management center" set up for meeting a wide range of needs from customers.

In addition, Sam’s Club has offered the "one-hour express delivery" service across China, and customers in Chongqing can also enjoy this service. Through relying on Sam's self-operated e-commerce store, customers can easily pick up or deliver goods to their homes.

At present, Sam's Club has more than 800 stores worldwide and is one of the world's largest membership-only stores, with more than 3 million members in China. It is estimated that by the end of 2022, there will be more than 40 stores opened.
