Chongqing Hospital, Australian ICON Jointly Build Tumor Radiotherapy Center in SW China

Chongqing- At Chongqing Sanbo Chang’an Hospital in southwestern China's Chongqing Municipality, a new radiotherapy center was officially unveiled at a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on November 27th, followed by an academic salon held by expert oncologists from Chongqing and Australia.

The event marks the beginning of a new partnership between Sanbo Chang’an Hospital and Australian healthcare provider ICON Group, who will deliver radiation oncology services to residents in Chongqing.

This agreement cements integrating high-quality domestic and international medical resources, which will provide precision and individualized medical care for cancer patients.

Prominent figures in attendance at the ceremony included senior hospital owners and management, prominent government officials, ICON Group representatives.

 Mr. Graham Fletcher, Australian Ambassador to China delivered a speech at the ribbon-cutting ceremony to congratulate ICON Group and Chongqing Sanbo Chang'an Hospital on their partnership and called for greater collaboration between Australia and China in the medical care industry. "Today’s opening not only represents the culmination of years of effort by Icon Group and the Chongqing government but also the ongoing commitment of ICON Group to provide cancer treatment in Asia and deliver the best possible care to the local community."

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the director of Sanbo Chang'an Hospital, Mr. Zhou Qing, also delivered a congratulatory speech for the occasion. "We have introduced international and advanced tumor management and treatment concepts, a team of first-class tumor radiotherapy experts, and imported Varian linear accelerator Truebeam. It aims to provide tumor patients with a comprehensive and precise treatment plan, which allows them to have a comfortable, high-quality tumor treatment at their doorstep."

The Oncology Radiotherapy Center of Chongqing Sanbo Chang'an Hospital has gone international with the introduction of advanced tumor management and treatment concepts.

In the afternoon, nearly 100 radiation oncologists from Chongqing hospitals met online with Australian counterparts to discuss the application of advanced radiotherapy technology to promote medical exchange between the two countries to achieve common progress in the field of oncology.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony and inspection of the Varian Truebeam linear accelerator, Sanbo Chang'an Hospital and ICON Group held a joint academic exchange conference titled the Chongqing-Brisbane Sino-Australian Radiotherapy Seminar, which was organized to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their status as twinned cities.

The seminar also marked an in-depth academic exchange between Chongqing and Australia in the field of oncology. In the future, the two parties will continue the frequent and broader exchange, while ICON Group will expand academic dialogue on radiotherapy into more regions of China.
