Chongqing - Shapingba will strengthen the construction for a national inland logistics hub and build itself into a national logistics city by 2035, aiming to become a highland of opening up under the Belt and Road Initiative, Shapingba's district mayor told a press conference on Wednesday.

Chang Bin (L-2), mayor of Shapingba District, Hu Yi (R-2), director of CPC Shapingba District Publicity Department, attend the press conference.

The Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park in Shapingba District officially became a national inland logistics hub earlier this year, making it an important transport node of domestic and international logistics channels.

To further promote across-the-board opening-up, "we plan to finish the construction for a 35-square-kilometer international logistics city by the end of 2035, aiming to build a new ecological city that integrates industry and tourism," said Chang Bin, mayor of Shapingba District People's Government.

"With the series of major projects, such as the Chongqing Inland Opening-Up Highland Demonstration Center, the 320,000-square-meter Free Trade Zone Innovation Service Center, and the 250,000-square-meter Wuyunhu Landscape, entering the final stage, a green, modern, and international logistics city is gradually taking shape."

Under a strategic agreement with Singapore Management University and Southwest University of Political Science & Law, Shapinba is looking to build the "Belt and Road" Law Think Tank Center and explore new tules for international land-sea trade.

According to Chang, the multi-modal transportation hub also seeks to improve outbound rail and port infrastructure, with the inland international freight trains already hitting 10 thousand and trade value exceeding 350 billion yuan.

Shapingba also heavily invested in creating a diverse and healthy business environment for international trade enterprises, said Chang, referring to the Golden Gulf Intelligence Valley, Free Trade Zone Innovation Center, and Qingfeng Hi-Tech Incubation Center, as well as the more than 2,900 international trade companies operating in the district.
