17 Health Projects to Be Launched in Western (Chongqing) Science City

On January 9, Chongqing saw the China Medical Device Industry Innovation and Development Summit & the Western (Chongqing) Science City Health Industry Planning Release and Key Projects Signing Ceremony, which was jointly sponsored by the Chongqing Investment Promotion Bureau and the Administrative Committee of Chongqing High-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Chongqing High-Tech Zone).

At the Summit, guests discussed the future innovation and development of the health industry under the theme of "Innovation and Development of China's Medical Device Industry." This event also witnessed the release of health industry planning, spatial planning, industrial policies, and the signing of key project contracts.

A total of 17 health projects signed during this event are to be launched in the Western (Chongqing) Science City, with a total investment of 17.37 billion yuan (about 2.7 billion U. S. dollars). They include such major projects as Cytiva's Life Sciences Industrial Park, CR Sanjiu's Chemical Licensee Cluster, Double Medical's Medical Device Manufacturing Base, and Licensee Cluster, Delta Medical's Medical Device Public Service Platform and Orthopedic Device Industry Cluster, Ping An's Big Health Industry Fund, and CPIC's Property Insurance and Biomedical Insurance Cooperation.

According to the relevant person in charge of Chongqing High-tech Zone Investment Promotion Co., Ltd., these projects involve biologics, small-molecule chemical drugs, orthopedic consumables, in vitro diagnostics, regenerative medicine, and other sectors of the biological medicine industry, as well as industry funds, biomedical insurance and other fields of industry-featured financial services. After the launch, these projects will complement the ecological chain of the big health industry development in Western (Chongqing) Science City, improve the industrial business types and further promote the construction of the science city.

What's more, Chongqing High-Tech Zone also introduced the property insurance and biomedical insurance of China Pacific Insurance (Group) Co., Ltd. (CPIC) and the health industry fund of Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd. It aims to build a whole-chain and whole-cycle financial service system for the biomedical industry.
