Chongqing- At the Chongqing Two Sessions 2021, Laingzhi, Mayor of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, delivered the Government Work Report. Deputies to the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress (NPC Chongqing) took part in the deliberation.

“34 million Chongqing residents became everyday heroes to overcome the challenges from the epidemic, resumption of work, poverty alleviation, and floods in 2020,” said Tang, feeling affected by the spirit of residents in Chongqing. “We salute the people of Chongqing for their outstanding efforts!”

Specifically, on the epidemic prevention and control, Yang Kunpeng, Deputy to the NPC Chongqing, added: “traditional Chinese medicine has also played a significant role in the fight against the COVID-19.” He thinks this is the reason why traditional Chinese medicine has drawn greater attention across the globe.

During the conference, Tang continued, the government will continue serving its people as always, paying attention to key livelihood matters and improve the basic public service system. This involves building the National Regional Medical Center to improve the quality of health services, promote the construction of tertiary hospitals, and achieve full coverage of the medical services in communities, districts, and counties.

Meanwhile, by consolidating poverty alleviation results to connect with rural revitalization effectively, Tang emphasized the maintainers of major assistance policies' overall stability. He said the improvement of monitoring and assistance mechanisms would help prevent a return to poverty and carry out normalized assistance for the low-income population in rural areas.

Tang's other thoughts and implementations involve building more parks, trails, greenways into the mountain city, enhancing the quality of the space and environment in Chongqing such as sidewalks, corners, slopes, and cliffs, and create a beautiful city to attract talents all over the world. 

At the same time, he raised the importance of promoting fair development and high-quality education. By further implementing education reform policies and spending considerable resources on professional development, Tang expects to see more teams of high-quality professional teachers will be formed, to improve student practices and learning.
