Chongqing- The added value of the service industry in 2020 increased by 2.9% compared with that of last year and accounted for 52.8% of gross domestic product (GDP) in Chongqing Municipality, local authorities said on Wednesday.
The promotion of the modern services industry achieved positive results in the year 2020, as the service sector produced an added value of 1.320725 trillion yuan (about 204.6 billion U.S. dollars).
The Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce implemented various measures to promote the resumption of work and production in the service industry, which led to strong performance in the industry sector.
Measures for business resumption
Measures included the organization of 20 group catering firms to supply meals for over 200 enterprises and institutions. Contactless hot pot takeaway services nationwide were developed for the first time, and the Stay-Home Hot Pot Festival was also held.

City leaders took the lead in canteen dining to promote the resumption of work and production in ten emerging service industries.
In-depth cooperation was organized between financial institutions and the catering, laundry, and housekeeping industries, while key industries such as wholesale, retail, and foreign investment were encouraged to share human resources. These measures helped solve the difficulties of financing and employment in the services industry and key enterprises.
The service industry in Chongqing produced an operating income of 378.348 billion yuan, an increase of 2.3%, where leases and business services were 11.7% higher than the national average. Residential services, repairs, and others were 9% higher.

Seven enterprises took their place amongst the top 100 service industry private enterprises in China for 2020, while 12 enterprises featured on the list of top 500 service industries in China for the same year.
In conjunction with relevant departments, close attention was paid to the cultivation of regulated service enterprises, as the total number of such enterprises in Chongqing Municipality reached 3,455.
Catering revenue in Chongqing Municipality was 16.4% higher than the national average last year and contributed 2% towards GDP. And activities were organized to raise popularity.
Chongqing brands reap prestigious awards
In catering, 10 cuisine landmarks and 17 Chinese Food Streets including Chongqing Hot Pot Capital and Xiaomian (Chongqing Noodle) Capital passed the latest regulatory inspections.

Seven outlets were selected among the first batch of 100 model enterprises for green restaurants and quality assured consumption, while 111 farm guesthouses were awarded star ratings.
