2021 Dazu Longshui Lake Half Marathon Kicked Off In A Vibrant Spring Day

Chongqing—— On March 28th, the 2021 Dazu (Chongqing) Longshui Lake Half Marathon and the "Brilliant Footprints, Torch Relay" national fitness activities kicked off at the Longshui Lake Tourist Resort. The event drew 8,200 runners at home and abroad.

The opening ceremony for the event was attended by Yu Huiwen, Secretary of the CPC Dazu District Committee, Yang Shande, Deputy Secretary of Social Sports Guidance Center, General Administration of Sport of China, Yang Guishan, member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director-General of Administration of Sport of Chongqing, District Mayor Li Bubin, Chen Tingjian, Chairperson of CPPCC Dazu District Committee, Zhang Ming and Qian Hu, both officials from Dazu District, and Wu Li, an official from Chongqing Economic and Technological Development Zone. Luo Xiaochun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Dazu District Committee, presided over the opening ceremony.

Organized by the People's Government of Dazu District and under the technical guidance of the Administration of Sport of Chongqing, the event was held with high standards. It has been well received by nationwide runners with its favorable natural environment and excellent race reputation since its launch in 2016. It won several honors such as the certification of Bronze Medal Event and the title of Natural Ecological Characteristic Event by the Chinese Athletics Association in 2018, the certification of Silver Medal Event by the Chinese Athletics Association in 2019, and the title of Chongqing Sports Tourism Quality Event in 2020.

The event was divided into half groups, mini-groups, and family groups (two persons and three persons). In particular, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, the organizing committee set up a special group themed on the Chinese revolution history. There were 8,200 participants in total. Specifically, 9 runners were from other countries, 1,129 from the outside of Chongqing, 5,038 from Dazu, and 2,024 from Chongqing's other districts.

Notably, the event was held during the cherry blossom season. In addition to the regular track along the lake, the special 1.5-km cherry racetrack was well received by runners. On that sunny day, all the runners came to the staging area early to do warm-up exercises. At the opening ceremony, with the gun going off, all the runners launched towards the finish line in an orderly manner. They were enjoying beautiful scenes and the fun of running, and the atmosphere was warm.
