In the first quarter of this year, Cuntan Port had collected and distributed 128,000 TEUs of cargo. Based on the Planning, its 1.4-km-long riverbank will be prioritized in the Cruise Home Port Area construction, and the freight transport will be transferred to Guoyuan Port.

Additionally, four berths for 10,000-ton-level cruises and two small berths for ships used in the Tour of Yangtze River and Jialing River will be put into construction.

According to Mu Jun, General Manager of Jiangbeizui Central Business District Investment Group Co., Ltd., the original cargo wharf of Cuntan Port will be transformed into a passenger port.

Mu said a comprehensive embarkation and disembarkation port machine system and a technical solution similar to the airport bridge would also be applied in the existing vertical-face wharf. This will further provide a safe, comfortable, and convenient embarking and disembarking experience for passengers.

Cuntan International New Town, with a planned area of about 6 square kilometers, consists of three parts: the cruise home port area, the bonded economic area, and the fashion consumption area.

Among them, the Cruise Home Port Area serves as the core, around which the Cuntan International New Town will be built as a whole. The construction of port and infrastructure in the Area is projected to commence this year and basically conclude in five years.
