"We shall do a good job as an interpreter who explores, inherits, and tells Chongqing's red stories, and presents its red history to the audience in a more three-dimensional and focused way," said Mo Jiao, the curator of Beibei Museum.

On December 8, 1949, the Southwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee moved to Chongqing and then built these three office buildings in the fir garden of Jinyun Mountain, where such leaders as Deng Xiaoping, Liu Bocheng, and He Long once worked.

"In June 2019, based on the three old buildings, we launched the project of the Historical Exhibition of the Southwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the Historical Display of Liu Bocheng in Chongqing, and the Historical Display of He Long in Chongqing in an effort for the comprehensive improvement of Jinyun Mountain," said Mo. "On November 23, 2020, the Historical Exhibition (Phase 1) of the Southwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee was officially commenced."

In the exhibition hall, there are over 400 physical objects, more than 1,000 historical photos. In such forms as physical exhibits, miniature scenes, and multimedia, the history of the Southwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee in Chongqing is vividly displayed around the related history of Deng Xiaoping, Liu Bocheng, and He Long working at the bureau.

Among them, the former residence of Deng Xiaoping focuses on how he governed the southwest and pushed forward with the economic construction and the establishment of political power; that of Liu Bocheng centers on how he participated in the revolutionary struggle during the time in Chongqing; that of He Long mainly displays his major contributions to the development of sports and environmental protection.

The exhibition shows the important course of liberating southwest China in an all-around manner and systematically expounds on the outstanding achievements of the bureau in culture, education, urban takeover, order rebuilding, economic construction, etc.

For example, this includes the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway, the Chongqing People's Auditorium, and the Shizitan Hydropower Station.
