Chongqing - On Sep. 15, 2021, Chongqing’s Mayor Tang Liangzhi signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Sister City Relations with Medellin's mayor Daniel Quintero Calle. Andrés Cárdenas Muñoz, Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, Luis Diego Monsalve, Colombian ambassador to China, witness the signing ceremony. In the meantime, guests from both sides witness the opening ceremony of the China Brand Show (Columbia) in both Medellin and Chongqing.

Medellin is the second-largest city in Colombia and an important commercial, industrial and technological center in Colombia. The friendship between Chongqing and Medellin is a concrete manifestation of its active integration into the development strategy of China and Latin America. It will also fill the gap of Chongqing’s sister city in Colombia, comprehensively promoting the economic and trade, education, and tourism of Chongqing and Colombia.

The China Brand Show (Colombia) held in Medellin is a national and international large-scale economic and trade fair approved by the governments of China and Colombia. The offline exhibition area in​Medellin exceeds 1,500 square meters. There are more than 100 exhibiting companies, which attract more than 3,000 buyers from Colombia to visit.

As one of the organizers of the China Brand Show (Colombia), Chongqing organized more than 50 key enterprises to participate and set up the "Chongqing Brand Commodity Exhibition Center" in Medellin, focusing on exhibitions including automobiles, motorcycles, and hardware. High-quality Chongqing brand brought products of intelligent manufacturing, agricultural, and intangible cultural heritage. The opening of the Chongqing Brand Commodity Exhibition Center is an important part of the exhibition supported by the city's Ministry of Commerce. It is a concrete manifestation of the pragmatic cooperation between the two cities.
