Chongqing- Land-sea freight trains from Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality had made a total of 1,493 trips from January to September of this year, increased by 77% year-on-year and surpassing last year’s total trips of 1,297, according to an operating company Sunday.

A total of 75,000 twenty-foot equivalent units of cargo worth 9.8 billion yuan (about 1.52 billion U.S. dollars) were transported via the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) in western China in the previous three quarters.
In the first three quarters of this year, the number of trains running from Tuanjiecun, Yuzui, Xiaonanya, and other main stations of ILSTC in Chongqing increased by more than 40%.
“The newly-operated Changshou station for direct ILSTC intermodal services in this August has risen the number of relevant stations in Chongqing to seven, which has reduced transportation costs and improved transportation efficiency for local enterprises,” said Jia Jun from the New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd.
The ILSTC channel has now reached 308 ports in 106 countries and regions, transporting more than 640 types of cargo, including corn from Ukraine, pulp from Brazil, and motorcycle parts from Chongqing.
An implementation plan for the high-quality construction of the ILSTC was issued this September. Chongqing will strengthen its coordination with provincial regions along the route to realize the full coverage of the “13+1” inter-regional integrated operation platform. Moreover, it will improve the comprehensive service capabilities of the supply chain by building professional service platforms for full-process logistics, transportation and trade integration, supply chain finance, and digital technology.
