Chongqing- Three Silk Road scholarships for Foreign Students were officially launched through an advanced ICT workshop combining online broadcasts and offline teaching on November 15, 2021.
The Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor's Silk Road Scholarship for Foreign Students has been sponsored by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission and undertaken by the Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
Foreign guests, including H.E. Kimsann Srun, deputy director of Cambodia's Communications Regulatory Commission, Mr. Saman Waduge, assistant secretary of the Sri Lankan Ministry of Youth and Sports, and headteachers from partnering colleges in Thailand and Sri Lanka attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
The Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications has taken the Silk Road Scholarships as an opportunity to implement national strategies, including the Information Silk Road and Postal Transmission Silk Road combined with intelligent development in big data.
Moreover, the various resources of government and enterprises will be integrated, while the university's advantages in fields including information science and technology, engineering and logistics management, artificial intelligence, and big data will be pooled to train special talents in respective fields from BRI nations.

Worldwide talent gathers in Chongqing
Chongqing Municipality has been implemented the Mayor's Foreign Student Silk Road Scholarship since 2017, with the aims of promoting the Belt and Road initiative, strengthening educational ties with BRI countries, building bridges with the people of each nation, and providing intellectual support for policy communication, the interconnection of facilities, trade flow, and financial integration.
One hundred thirty-nine government officials from 10 countries, including Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Russia, Indonesia, Argentina, and Myanmar, are participating in the study program this year, senior foreign managers from local Chinese enterprises, and scholars from academic institutions.
The training course integrates both theories and practices through lectures, interactive discussion, and exchange with tuition from over 60 university teachers, in addition to guest lectures and seminars given by experts and scholars from government departments, industry associations, enterprises, and partner colleges and universities.
The three main themes behind the scholarships are next-generation information and communication technology, big data analysis and management, and postal industry cooperation and advanced research projects for BRI and Yuxinou nations.
