The skilled craftsmen and hardware talent all over the world gathered. After three months of fierce competition, the finals of the Dazu Forging Tool Creative Design Professional Competition of the 10th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Chongqing Competition Area) officially started in Xiantao International Big Data Valley in Yubei District on December 4.
The finals were a two-day competition, which was shifted from offline to online due to the need for pandemic prevention and control. The 62 entries in the finals will be judged after the project roadshow and online selection, and the first, second and third prizes of three directions will be awarded, with a total bonus of RMB 800,000

Online Contest: Deciding Several Awards in Three Directions
This year’s Professional Competition will be supported by the China Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition Organization Committee, hosted by the Chongqing Science and Technology Bureau and the People’s Government of Dazu District, and organized by the Dazu Science and Technology Bureau and the Chongqing International Communication Center. The “Sci-tech Innovation, Dazu Makes Dream Come True,” the professional competition will carry out the creative design contest in three professional directions: cutting tools for daily use, cutting tools for creative travel gifts, and decorative boxes for daily use cutting tools.

The 62 entries in the finals will be presented according to the order of the online drawing, which will be conducted via “8+5” (8 minutes of presentation + 5 minutes of defense). Judges will watch the PPT, and 3D animation effects of the entries displayed on the big LED screen in Xiantao International Big Data Valley, ask questions online, and have the contestants defend themselves.
Ultimately, the finals will award one first prize, two second prizes, and three third prizes in each direction, with prizes of RMB 100,000, RMB 40,000, and RMB 20,000 respectively, and entries that are shortlisted for the final and do not receive a grade award will be awarded a bonus of RMB 1,500, for a total bonus of RMB 800,000.
Application of Achievements: Contributing to Dazu’s Hardware Industry
It is learned that this year’s finalists focus on new ideas, directions, materials, and processes for the innovative design of hardware and cutting tools. In selecting the finalists, the organizers fully considered the market prospect, ergonomics and application possibility, and feasibility of the entries. The organizers focused on the actual needs of the tool companies and required the finalists to be forward-looking, creative, and well versed in the future development trends of hardware and cutting tools.

This year’s jury of experts will be a more diverse and professional team compared with previous versions. Comprised of professors from renowned universities, representatives from design companies, senior designers, and leading companies of knives from home and abroad, and representatives from the financing party, it has a professional and strong lineup.
According to the local official that Dazu currently has a wealth of experience in holding hardware competitions like this one and has developed a “five-link chain” system of technical services focused on achievements application, intellectual property protection, investment, and financing cooperation, fintech, and policy incentive. “Local enterprises will cooperate with the winners on a selective basis to develop new products. By effectively integrating design resources and special industries, they will enhance the core competitiveness and innovation and entrepreneurship of the hardware industry and realize the extension and value-added of Dazu’s hardware industry chain,” said the person in charge.
