Chongqing Postdoctoral Fellow Won 6 National Awards

Chongqing-The Chongqing delegation won 2 Gold, 1 Silver, 2 Bronze, and 1 Outstanding Organization awards in the 1st China Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.

The "Pilot of Sound Insulation Superfine Glass Fiber Cotton Material for Domestic Large Aircraft" project led by Zhai Fuqiang, which won first place in the innovation group of new material, co-recommended by Chongqing University, Chongqing Materials Research Institute Co., Ltd., Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences.

The "Village Revitalization Demonstration Project Supported by New Citrus Varieties" led by postdoctoral fellow Chen Zhiyou won first place in the entrepreneurial group of modern agriculture and food. This project is recommended by Southwest University.

The 1st China Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition kicked off on December 18 in Foshan, Guangdong. This is also the largest, highest-level, and most extensive national postdoctoral innovation and entrepreneurship competition held since China's postdoctoral system implementation.

In this competition, more than 1,400 teams (projects) from 47 delegations from all over the country entered the finals.

The participating delegations in Chongqing covered eight majors, including new-generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, new energy, etc.

Zhai Fuqiang said that he benefited from Chongqing's talent attraction policy, especially Chongqing's continuous innovation of talent evaluation methods, which made him feel Chongqing's respect and love for talents.

"I believe that in the talented fertile soil of Chongqing, we will cultivate more new citrus varieties, new technologies, and new models to lay a solid technical and scientific foundation for rural revitalization." In this competition, Chen Zhiyou's gold award project stood out from the fierce competition among well-known domestic universities such as Tsinghua University and Peking University.

At present, Chen Zhiyou's citrus industry has promoted more than 50,000 acres in Hunan, Sichuan, Chongqing, and other places, driving more than 2,000 poor households out of poverty, with a total increase of 120 million yuan($18.8 million).

According to official statistics, as of the end of 2021, Chongqing has recruited more than 1,000 postdoctoral students throughout the year, achieving a three-fold growth rate in two years.
