International Street Dance Competition in Chongqing

At 7:00 p.m. on December 20, the final and award ceremony of the 2021 "Dancing Mountain City" Championship International Street Dance Competition kicked off at the Beibei Jinyun Cultural Sports Centre Stadium. Top-notch dancers from home and abroad gathered in the mountain city of Chongqing, presenting an amazing street dance show.

Under the theme of "New Era, New Youth, New Culture, New Street Dance," this year's DMC has invited 24 first-class street dancers from home and abroad to form a judging panel. Among them were globally renowned street dancers such as PoppingC, Rochka, Hyo Keun Ki, Dasha, and Eagle one, as well as Yang Kai, champion of the third season of Street Dance of China, a hit Chinese variety show with international dancers, Li Bingbing, China's first champion of an international street dance competition, and many other popular dancers from the Street Dance of China including Xiao Jie, Liang Liang, Huang Xiao, Shi Yi, Dan Dan, Li Chunlin, and Xiao Bai. This year's judge panel is more professional. Moreover, the DJ team was led by Alone, a popular DJ of the Street Dance of China, and the MC team was led by famous Danan to ensure the quality of the competition.

Like previous years, this year's DMC also included the 5V5 dual meet of provincial teams to compete for the championship. Each team was comprised of some of the best dancers selected by the China Hip-Hop Union Committee (CHUC) branch in every province. At last, Li Yan from Chongqing won the Hip Hop champion, Ma Xu the Popping champion, Pan Yongxiao the Locking champion, and Wang Ruimiao the Breaking champion; CHUC Sichuan Branch won the 5v5 champion (the team name is Xiang Ming Lei Zai Ji); Wang Guo won the Kids Freestyle champion. Notably, the excellent dancers from this year's DMC are entitled to the opportunity of acting in China's first street dance-drama that will be shot in Chongqing.

Another highlight of this year's DMC is a brand-new watching experience based on cutting-edge technologies. Supported by Huawei's Free Viewpoint Video (FVV) technology as well as leading stage elevator equipment, it is the first street dance competition that can be watched in ultra high definition and 360-degree panoramic view.

"This year's DMC has attracted nearly 1,000 dancers from all over the country. Of them, more than 400 participated in the battle projects, and more than 600 participated in the routine projects. Either from the number or the quality of participants, I think it can represent the top level in China," said Luo Beilun, Executive Deputy Director of the CHUC Chongqing Branch.

In addition to the large international competition, this year's China Street Dance Series (Chongqing Stop) also includes the Tour to Bayu of Youth in Emerging Industries, the First China Street Dance Industry Development Summit, the Annual Conference of the Eighth CHUC, and the Third China Hip Hop Awards Ceremony. Through these activities, it hopes to exhibit the new achievements made by China's street dance in different fields from multiple levels, aspects, and perspectives with diverse methods in 2021. Meanwhile, it also aims to identify where, how, and why to plan China's street dance industry, guide youth through thoughts, encourage art creation, and develop public services, create new ideas and prospects for China's street dance development, and promote China's street dance to realize new level, new development, breakthrough, and new height.

Moreover, people can also expect the "Training Camp of the Dancing Mountain City Championship International Street Dance Competition" and the "2021 China Hip Hop Awards Ceremony," which are scheduled for December 21 and 23, respectively, in Beibei District.
