First Return Train of China-Laos Railway Arrived from Vientiane to Chongqing

Chongqing- A New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor train shipped more than 900 tons of local rice and charcoal, with 68 twenty-foot equivalent units containers of goods, from Vientiane South Station in Laos to Tuanjiecun Station in Chongqing, China on December 25. This is the first Vientiane return train since the China-Laos cross-border train service on the new land-sea channel, and the first Vientiane return train on the Chinese mainland.

According to the New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd., the China-Laos Railway has opened up the hinterland of Southeast Asia, enabling China to have new and convenient land transportation channels with Indochina countries such as Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia. 

Three China-Laos railway international cargo trains departing from Chongqing have been operated, with a total value of more than 8 million yuan (about 1.26 U.S. dollars) of goods shipped. The export goods mainly include food, chemicals, motorcycle accessories, etc.

The operation of the China-Laos cross-border railway return train of the ILSTC indicates that the route has realized two-way freight trains. It will help Chongqing accelerate its integration into the Belt and Road Initiative and construct the China-Laos Economic Corridor. It will also inject vitality into Chongqing's import and export trade and deepen the trade chain. 

The Chongqing-Vietnam and Chongqing-Laos cross-border railway trains have realized regular two-way operation and will serve Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, and other countries in one stop.
