To Offer Quality Consumption Destinations with Booming Economy | Deputy’s Motions

Chongqing- Jiangbeizui Central Business District, an international financial center and CBD in Chongqing,  is ready to offer quality consumption destinations and a comfortable working place with its social, economic, and financial advantages, said Zhao Min, Deputy to the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress and Board Secretary of Chongqing Jiangbeizui Central Business District Investment Group Co., Ltd.   

During an interview with iChongqing on January 18, she said that the Jiangbeizui CBD should boost the construction of an international consumption center from both macro and micro insights. "The motions are not only in the economic and social aspects but also about people's livelihood," she said. "We want to solve some practical issues in people's lives."

An underground penetration project

"I have submitted two motions for Chongqing Two Sessions this year," said Zhao. The implementation of the Jiangbeizui underground penetration project is one of them. 

"Due to its overall topographic condition, there are two rivers and two main roads in the Jiangbeizui area, which significantly limits traffic," she said.

The occupancy of the office population is another factor they are concerned with. Zhao told us that there are about 60,000 office workers living in the Jiangbeizui CBD area. According to the plan, in 2030, the number of people working there will reach 150,000, which is more than half of the current population. She thought that the traffic congestion will probably be worse by that time.

Zhao told us how the motion came about, "I know the situation because I work there, and our team also did some research to get more information."

From those people who work and live in the Jiangbeizui area, there are demands on solving traffic congestion and making transport more convenient. Based on this, Zhao looked deeper into the situation and suggested a series of investigations. 

The core area of the international consumption center city 

Another motion submitted by Zhao Min is to renovate and improve the existing commercial centers to boost the construction of Chongqing International Consumption Center City. 

Last year, Chongqing was given new tasks, building the western financial center and the international consumption center city. The Jiangbei District Government made great efforts in this aspect, she said. 

Zhao considered that the Jiangbeizui CBD is the core area for the international consumption center. "It's like when we have a guest in our home, the host can provide the living room for reception," she said.

First of all, Jiangbeizui Central Business District is in the core areas of Chongqing, both in terms of geography and economy. 

Second, its special geographical conditions reflect the characteristics of the city. "The whole area of Jiangbeizui, from the center to the coast of the two rivers, has ups and downs," Zhao said. "As far as our whole buildings, it has a very beautiful skyline. And a beautiful skyline can figuratively reflect the characteristics of Chongqing as a mountain city."

Third, Jiangbeizui is taking the international and high-end consumption route. Similarly, Jiangbeizui is considered the economic and financial center. "There are many Fortune 500 companies settled here, which is a good platform to showcase our city's image and economic and social development," addressed Zhao. 

On top of that, she praised the solid work of the government of Chongqing to boost the construction of the international consumption center. "Last year, the municipality has achieved greatly despite difficulties and pressures, " she said. "I'm very confident about Chongqing, especially in promoting its high-quality development and high-quality life."
