Chongqing- A cross-border freight train loaded with 14 carriages of lysine and ammonium sulfate on the China-Laos Railway of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) slowly departed from Yinchuannnan Railway Station of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, heading for Vientiane, the capital of Laos, through China Mohan Port in Yunnan Province on January 20.
This serves as the first international freight train to the Laotian capital of Vientiane in northwestern China, opening up a new and fast international economic and trade channel in Southeast Asia for Ningxia and adjacent areas.

The cargo is worth about 3.21 million yuan (about 510,000 U.S. dollars), weighs approximately 500 tons, and will arrive in approximately ten days.
The running of the cross-border freight train on the China-Laos Railway (Ningxia-Vientiane) of the ILSTC was coordinated by the New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd and China Railway International Multimodal Transportation Co., Ltd.
At the same time, through working with the Department of Commerce of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Yinchuan Customs District, and the railway department, all institutions and companies integrated resources along the corridor, operated in accordance with unified brands and rules, organized cargo sources, facilitated customs clearance and transport processes, and provided one-stop services for international trains.
The combination of all-weather, low-cost, no change, fast access can be achieved in cross-border transportation through the China-Laos Railway of the ILSTC, which are better than the original cross-border road transportation mode in terms of safety and transport costs.
Since the China-Laos Railway has put into service in December 2021, the New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd and many companies in Ningxia have seized the opportunity to construct the China-Laos Economic Corridor and the implementation of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership.
The successful operation of the cross-border freight train of the China-Laos Railway (Ningxia-Vientiane) of the ILSTC further strengthens inland ports' radiation and gathering capacity. It injects new vitality into the import and export economic and trade development of Ningxia and adjacent areas.
The New Land-Sea Trade Corridor simulation model was displayed at the Smart Logistics and Digital Channel Theme exhibition hall at the N2 Pavillion of the Chongqing International Expo Center. (iChongqing/ Vivian Yan)
