First China-Laos Railway Train Returns from Luang Prabang Station to Chongqing

Chongqing- On March 6, a China-Laos Railway freight train to Chongqing, China departed from Luang Prabang Station, Laos. 

This is the first return train from Luang Prabang station in Laos cooperated by the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) and Yunnan Intercontinental Express. The containers loaded with Lao tapioca starch will arrive in Chongqing and Yunnan in five days.

Luang Prabang Station, located in the middle of the Laos section of the China-Laos Railway, is considered an essential passenger and freight station of the line. 

The station covers an area of 156 hectares, with four arrival and departure lines and two cargo lines. 

The return train of ILSTC China-Laos Railway routinely takes Vientiane South Station as the departure station, where the goods from Laos, Thailand, and other places are assembled at.  

It is worth noting that it is the first return train of ILSTC China-Laos Railway departed from Luang Prabang Station, which further enriches the arrival and departure stations of the Laos section and expands the transportation capacity.

Since its operation on December 4, 2021, the ILSTC China-Laos Railway has operated 21 trains of 650 twenty-foot equivalent units with a total cargo value of 166 million yuan.

The cargo containers assembled from other places to Chongqing are transported to Vientiane, Laos, Bangkok, Thailand via the China-Laos Railway, with the enriched goods categories. 

The opening of the China-Laos Railway has injected new momentum into the economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, enabling more enterprises to enjoy the opportunities and benefits brought by ILSTC. 

For the rapid growth of freight volume on the China-Laos Railway, the New Land-sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd. will continue to coordinate with relevant departments to shorten the transportation time and enhance customs clearance facilitation, making domestic and international economic sense.
