SW China’s Largest electrochemical Power Station Unveiled

"The power value is normal, and the onsite equipment operates well," said a dispatcher. On March 28th, with the command of the dispatcher, the power workers of Chongqing Changshou Enliji Energy Storage Power Station activated the grid connection operation, which marked the official operation of the largest megawatt electrochemical energy storage power station in Southwest China.

Changshou Enliji energy storage power station project covers an area of about 500 square meters, with 72 new prefabricated compartments, including battery, inverter and rectifier integrated compartment, confluence switch compartment, fire compartment, etc. The energy storage station is the largest customer-side energy storage station in Southwest China, which provides energy storage services for Chongqing Huayi Enliji Investment Company.

According to Wu Jiang, the general director of the Changshou Enliji energy storage station project, the scale of the station is 5 MW/10 MWh, equivalent to the sum of the capacity of 200,000 ordinary power banks, satisfying a reliable power supply of more than 3,500 households for one hour. There are six energy storage arrays and 60 energy storage cabinets. A total of 26,880 long-life energy storage cells with a single capacity of 120 Ah are used. The system can achieve more than 6,000 charge-discharge cycles. A full set of prefabricated cabin modes is adopted for construction. Each energy storage cabinet forms an integrated plug-and-play modular product with energy storage and AC/DC power conversion capabilities. Through multi-machine interconnection, the station's elastic expansion and building block construction are realized, which reduces the amount of onsite construction work and shortens the project's construction time.

During the interview, Zhou Haifeng, the Enliji Electric Instrument Center manager, told iChongqing that the energy storage power station is like a huge "Power Bank." After being put into operation, it can provide about 20,000 kWh off-peak electricity every day, reduce the peak load of Enliji, and effectively improve the stability and reliability of enterprise power consumption. The energy storage station uses the peak-valley price difference to reduce the electricity purchase cost by charging during the valley and discharging during the peak periods. The company can also actively participate in the demand-side response and obtain subsidies, saving the power purchase cost. It is expected to save more than 3 million yuan for the company every year.

According to Chen Jiankai, the executive deputy leader of the New Power System Department of Changshou Power Company, the customer-side energy storage power station can provide standby capacity to ensure system stability and power quality as an active power reserve in case of power grid emergencies. At the same time, it can also reduce power grid shock, ensuring safe, economical, and efficient operation of the power grid.

Today, the energy storage industry has become the focus of emerging industries, both a challenge and an opportunity for the Chongqing power grid. Supported by the power grid platform, State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company encourages the aggregate utilization of customer-side decentralized energy storage facilities such as uninterruptible power supply, electric vehicles, and charging and replacement facilities, giving full play to the role of load peak shaving and valley filling, participates in demand-side response and innovates the two-way interaction mode of source and load.

Meanwhile, State Grid Chongqing electric power company has been working hard on new power system construction, smart interactive load-clustering platform setup, million-kilowatts-class adjustable load resource pool implementation and wide incorporation of distributed power, self-owned power plants, energy storage facilities, and other resources, guiding loads to actively participate in power peak shaving, serving the realization of carbon peak and neutralization goals and promoting the high-quality development of Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
