In Nanchuan District, located in southern Chongqing and bordering northern Guizhou, farmers decide to take advantage of local unique mountains and terrain, fertile farmland, as well as humid climate to benefit from growing peppers.
In fact, a sustainable pillar industry of pepper growing failed to form in Nanchuan District. Despite its long history of pepper growing and early records of pepper scale planting in the area, most farmers still choose to market their self-grown products locally without knowing any favorable sales channel.
What’s worse, the local agricultural varieties and the lack of well-developed scientific technology for growing pepper result in less production and lower revenue streams, which further imposes a negative impact on farmers’ enthusiasm for pepper growing.

Launched by Chongqing Nanchuan Charitable Aid Service Center, a project themed on “Re-growing of Peppers in Mountain Villages” is planned to be carried out from March 2022 to April 2023 with the support of the Chongqing Charity Federation.
The project aims to help farmers make feasible growing plans, provide technical services and unblock marketing channels by means of agricultural technical training, subsidies for villagers, provision of seedlings, farming supplies, even pickle jars, and other processing equipment to increase their income and make their “pepper-expanding dreams” come true.
The project serves as an important part of the “Rural Revitalization·Chongqing Session” hosted by Chongqing Charity Federation under the guidance of Chongqing Civil Affairs Bureau and Chongqing Rural Revitalization Bureau, with special support from Tencent Charity and Tencent Southwest Headquarters.
The activity will be held from April 27 to April 29, 2022, focusing on assistance in industrial development, elderly care, care for children, education, talents cultivation, and aid for the needy and the poor.
