Chongqing is My Second Home | Remarkable China

Chongqing- "Chongqing is my second home compared to my home in Singapore," said Dennis Ong, General Manager of YPL Supply Chain (Chongqing) Multimodal Company Limited.

Having lived in China for about 18 years, Ong is a Singaporean working at YPL Supply Chain (Chongqing) Multimodal Company Limited under Yuxinou (Chongqing) Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. Ong decided to stay in Chongqing as he sees the city's strategic potential in boosting China's opening-up economy further.

China has been accelerating its pace in opening up in recent years, and has advanced the Belt and Road Initiative, signed the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, a free trade pact signed by 15 Asia-Pacific economies, and is seeking membership in multiple multilateral trade agreements, said Sun Yeli, a spokesman for the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, according to China Daily.

As opening-up is a basic State policy of the nation, no matter how the world may change, Yuxinou, also known as China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing), the first China-Europe freight train service, has transported over 1,000 types of goods ranging from energy terminals and whole vehicles to auto parts and medicines, with a total value exceeding 400 billion yuan (about 60 billion U.S. dollars), data showed in June.

The railway has lines reaching Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia, Belarus, Poland, Germany, Lithuania, and Hungary.

More than 60 cities across the country have operated trains of China Railway Express, forming three international railway corridors in the west, central, and east China. The transportation network covers the main regions of the Eurasian continent, has become the backbone mode of land transportation in international logistics, and promotes the construction of a new development pattern.
