Chongqing’s First Sino-foreign Higher Vocational Institution Unveiled

Chongqing- Jointly established by Chongqing Vocational Institute of Engineering and Moscow State Technological University (Stankin), the Sino-Russian International Academy of Intelligent Manufacturing of Chongqing Vocational Institute of Engineering was unveiled on November 29.

The approval of this college marks the first Chinese-foreign higher vocational education institution in Southwest China's Chongqing, said Jin Ling, deputy director of the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. 

With three majors of electromechanical integration technology, industrial robot technology, and software technology, the Sino-Russian International Academy of Intelligent Manufacturing of Chongqing Vocational Institute of Engineering aims to cultivate quality international talents in intelligent equipment manufacturing based on Chongqing's pillar industries' needs, contributing to building Chongqing into an intelligent manufacturing center and a smart city

The college has enrolled 69 students majoring in electromechanical integration technology and software technology. After completing three years of college study at Chongqing Vocational Institute of Engineering, students can voluntarily apply to the Moscow State Technological University (Stankin) for further undergraduate studies.

The college will build an applied scientific and technological innovation teaching team of an intelligent manufacturing professional group led by prestigious teachers, professors, skilled masters, and doctors, said Zhang Jin, the president of Chongqing Vocational Institute of Engineering. 

Relying on China and Russia's training bases and teaching resources, the teaching team will conduct scientific and technology research jointly. They will participate in the formulation of the standards of the WorldSkills Competition. By cooperating with the enterprises of both sides, they will jointly create an intelligent equipment simulation training center and Sino-Russian high-level vocational education cooperation and exchange platform.

In recent years, Chongqing universities have cooperated with foreign institutions for cultural and educational exchanges, especially with Russia. For example, Chongqing universities have joined the Yangtze and Volga rivers university alliance with Russian universities.

The Chinese Language and Culture Center was established at the Ivanovo State University of Chemical Technology in Russia. At the same time, four universities in Chongqing have opened Russian majors. In 2022, Chongqing colleges and universities recruited 141 international students and employed 16 foreign experts and teachers from Russia.

"Chongqing always gives high priority to the development of education and will move faster to build a city with a high-quality educational system," said Huang Zheng, Director of the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission.

To develop the required talents for industrial growth, relevant institutions have introduced 116 undergraduate majors in Chongqing over the last three years. The building of 43 majors related to big data intelligence cost 43 million yuan.

To help construct science and technology innovation centers with national influence, the city's universities have established 261 industry-university-research cooperation institutions and alliances, 11 scientific and technological transformation centers, and three national university science and technology parks.
