Chongqing to Build People’s Livelihood Projects Worth over 10 Billion Yuan

Chongqing- A total of 19 people's livelihood projects started construction, covering major areas of basic education, culture, health and sports, and people's livelihood, with a total investment of about 10.6 billion yuan (USD 1.57 billion) at Chongqing Liangjiang New Area on January 10.

Hospitals, fitness center, park, and school to be built

The Chongqing Union Hospital, constructed by Chongqing Municipal People's Government and Union Hospital of Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, has a total investment of 668 million US dollars and a total construction area of 380,000 square meters. 

The Phase I project will provide 1,500 beds. By introducing advantageous disciplines and the management team of the Union Hospital, the project will become a national model project of the regional medical center. 

With a total construction area of about 40,000 square meters, another project, the Liangjiang National Fitness Center, is a large-scale professional sports venue with sports facilities, including a swimming pool, badminton court, tennis court, table tennis court, and supporting commercial facilities. 

It aims to provide fitness and exercise venues for nearby workers and residents, promote the deep integration of fitness and health, ensure people's physical health, and advance the development of the healthcare industry.

The Duogongcheng Site Park covers an area of about 1.87 hectares. Under the premise of retaining the existing steps and ancient trees, ramparts, gates, and ancient post roads are restored, the park will showcase the structure and layout of the Duogongcheng Site in an all-around way. 

The park will carry out landscape building on the rampart and related site areas and establish supporting lighting and security systems. The park will become a representative cultural display window that presents the history and culture of Liangjiang New Area.

Among the 19 people's livelihood projects in Liangjiang New Area, nine educational projects exist.

Boya Primary School involves 11,700-square-meter innovative buildings, such as multi-functional halls and smart classrooms, an innovative standard outdoor sports field with a 400-meter running track, and a new canteen of 500 square meters.

The Taikang Community • Yu Garden Phase II, Chongqing's first continuum-of-care rehabilitation project, can provide 114 rehabilitation hospital beds and 231 nursing beds. It is scheduled to be completed in August 2024.

A secondary rehabilitation hospital will be built to provide residents with comprehensive health protection, including disease prevention, health management, basic diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Aiming to become a model of an international, green, intelligent, and humanistic modern city, Liangjiang New Area has launched high-quality people's livelihood projects in education, elderly care, culture, and sports to enhance people's sense of gain.
