Chongqing’s NEVs Sale and Cross-border E-commerce Boomed During Spring Festival

Chongqing- A week-long Spring Festival holiday boosted Chinese domestic consumption. Especially new energy vehicles and cross-border e-commerce were popular in Chongqing during the holiday, highlighting festival consumption.

Statistics showed that during the holiday, Chongqing’s retail sales from main shopping malls and commercial enterprises reached 15.6 billion yuan (about 2.29 billion U.S. dollars).

NEV prospers the shopping mall consumption

Different from traditional gasoline vehicles, which are usually exhibited in the 4S car dealership, new energy vehicles (NEVs) are inclined to exhibit in shopping malls, driving the mall consumption.

Two AITO models exhibited in a shopping mall in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area caught people’s eyes.

“The number of customers coming for test drives tripled during the holiday,” said the salesman of AITO. “The model equips Huawei HarmonyOS intelligent cabin featuring intelligence and high technology, which attracted customers’ attention.”

Another Chongqing-based carmaker, Changan Automobile, also contributes to consumption. Its Avatr model exhibited in the Ring Shopping Mall saw a significant number of consumers booking orders during the holiday.

As introduced by Wang Nan, the person in charge of Chongqing sales stores of Avatr, the daily online inquiry reached over 200 times while the real store was up to 100 times.

Last year, The NEV in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area reached an output of 35.3 billion yuan (about 5.2 billion U.S. dollars), accounting for 62% of Chongqing’s total figure. The Liangjiang New Area has produced over 210,000 NEVs, accounting for 58% of Chongqing.

Hundreds of wines from all over the world for sale

At the Belt and Road Commodity Exhibition & Trading Center in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area, hundreds of wines from all over the world were available, and over 30 halls from different countries provided abundant choices for customers.

Even some traditional shopping malls, such as Sasseur Outlets, offered customers a new shopping experience by combining the Livestream with a real store shopping guide.

On top of domestic consumption, four trains of China-Europe Express (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe) departed from Guoyuan Port during the Spring Festival carrying Chongqing-made products to the European market.

The ILSTC express provides logistics services with higher efficiency and lower cost, which facilitates Chongqing to better connect with the Belt and Road countries and build itself into China's inland international logistics distribution center.
