Chongqing Launches Ten Plans to Build Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor

The Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development announced the "Ten Action Plans" for the Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor construction project at the 2023 Chongqing Culture and Tourism Work Conference on January 31.

"Promoting the construction of the Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor is one of the important tasks in the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, and also one of the 102 major projects of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025),"  said Liu Qi, Secretary of the CPC Committee and Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development.

First, Chongqing will build a world-class leisure tourism resort. In accordance with the positioning of a world-class leisure tourism resort with international style, Chinese characteristics, and Bashu charm, Chongqing will further accelerate the construction of urban tourism facilities and build tourism and leisure blocks. Chongqing will also strengthen the construction of high-quality tourist attractions and resorts, create high-quality rural tourism routes, accelerate the high-quality development of rural tourism homestays, and innovate the business formats of rural tourism. In addition, it will advance the integrated development of transportation and tourism, propel the development of green tourism, hot spring tourism, sports tourism, etc., and improve the quality of live performance projects.

Second, Chongqing will promote rural revitalization enabled by culture and tourism. Specifically, it will further strengthen the protection, inheritance, and utilization of rural culture, catalyze the development of rural tourism, build key villages and towns for rural tourism, leisure tourism attractions, and tourist routes, carry out promotional activities for rural tourism, and accelerate the integrated development of agriculture, culture, and tourism.

Third, Chongqing will develop smart culture and tourism. Measures include leveraging the enabling role of technological innovation in developing culture and tourism, accelerating the development of digital culture and smart tourism, encouraging the sharing of government affairs data related to culture and tourism between Chengdu and Chongqing, and promoting the digitization of documents and cultural centers.

Fourth, Chongqing will develop culture and art. Efforts will be made to fully tap cultural and tourism resources to tell the story of the Bashu Region, encourage literary and artistic creation, and create excellent works that reflect the historical features and contemporary practices of the Bashu Region. Furthermore, Chongqing will innovate the form of cultural performances and promote the prosperity of culture and art in the region.

Fifth, Chongqing will improve the quality of public services. Specifically, Chongqing will further implement the Sichuan-Chongqing "all-purpose card" project of reading and expand new space for public cultural services. It will also establish the brand of "Love and Passion of Bashu in Chengdu-Chongqing Region" cultural activity and continue to launch key city-level cultural activities such as "Star of Reading," "Rural Cultural Show," and "Dancing Mountain City Championships."

Sixth, Chongqing will preserve and utilize cultural heritage. Chongqing will promote the protection, inheritance, and utilization of Bashu cultural heritage. It will implement the three major projects of the protection and inheritance of revolutionary cultural relics, the protection and utilization of cultural relics of the Three Gorges, and the protection and utilization of grotto temples, as well as the cultural heritage protection and inheritance projects of national cultural parks of the Yangtze River and Long March (Chongqing Section). Moreover, Chongqing will start the construction of the Memorial Hall of the Red Army's Long March, implement key cultural relics protection projects for the protection and inheritance of historical culture along the Two Rivers and Four Riversides, deepen the reform of the protection and utilization of cultural relics, and improve the systematic preservation of intangible cultural heritage.

Seventh, Chongqing will expedite the high-quality development of the cultural and tourism industries. In this regard, Chongqing will facilitate the construction of a demonstration zone for the integrated development of national cultural and tourism sectors and implement the plan of rural revitalization enabled by the cultural industry. Furthermore, Chongqing will quicken the construction of a pilot city for culture and tourism consumption and build the third batch of national-level night culture and tourism consumption clusters. In 2023, Chongqing will strive to increase the added value of the cultural and tourism industries by more than 10% year-on-year.

Eighth, Chongqing will strengthen cultural exchanges and publicity. In this aspect, Chongqing will work with Sichuan to build a Sichuan-Chongqing integrated publicity and promotion platform and expand domestic and overseas cultural and tourism markets. In addition, Chongqing will carry out cross-border exchanges such as cultural and tourism trade salons and talent training and continue to host the third China Hot Spring Industry Expo to enhance the influence of Chongqing hot springs.

Ninth, Chongqing will develop radio, television, and network audio-visual industries. Chongqing will strengthen the connection and information interaction of media platforms in the Bashu Region to form a joint force for publicity and promotion. It will also strengthen the production and broadcasting of public service advertisements on radio and television, create a content section for "A Tale of Chengdu and Chongqing," and enhance the international recognition of the Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor.

Tenth, Chongqing will enhance its cultural and tourism support capabilities. In this respect, Chongqing will improve the mechanism for the construction of the Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor in Sichuan and Chongqing, strive to establish a national cultural and tourism innovation and reform pilot zone, and speed up the construction of a demonstration zone for the integrated development of culture and tourism in Ziyang and Dazu. It will also support the in-depth integration with Chengdu's business formats, brands, markets, services, exchanges, and promotions in culture and tourism and prepare for hosting the China Wuling Cultural Tourism Summit.
