The 2023 Chongqing Marathon Opens on Mar. 19! Foreign Athletes Allowed to Participate

As spring approaches, a new session of the Chongqing Marathon is about to open! On the afternoon of February 3, a press conference of the 2023 Chang'an Automobile Chongqing Marathon was held, announcing that the race would fire the starting gun at Chongqing's Nanbin Park at 7:30 March 19.

There is a full marathon (42.195 kilometers) and a mini marathon (5 kilometers), with 15,000 participants respectively.

The route of the full marathon remains the classic one. Starting from Nanbin Park, marathoners will pass through such landmarks as Dongyuan 1891, National Palace Museum Cultural Relics South Migration Memorial Hall in Chongqing, Ciyun Temple, Clock Tower Square, Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery, and the former site of the French Naval Military Camp, turn back under Chaotianmen Bridge, run to Babin Road in Banan District, turn back at the intersection of Ronghui Jiangshan Community, and return to Nanbin Park. Marathoners of the mini marathon will run from Nanbin Park to Chaotianmen Bridge.

Registration for the race opened at 16:30 on February 3, and the full marathon will close on February 14, with the draw results being announced on the 17th. Registration for the mini marathon will close when the number of applicants reaches 15,000. The race is also open to foreign runners.

To further promote the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the joint development of the two cities' sports industry, the Chongqing Marathon and Chongqing Changjiahui Half Marathon joined with Chengdu Marathon and Chengdu Panda Marathon to create high-quality competitions that share the same quota. Through cooperation in sports event marketing, the two cities set up booths for each other at China Marathon Expo, striving to promote sports culture exchanges and coordinated industrial development between the two sides and to build a prosperous Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.

As the first full marathon event in western China and one of the China Marathon Majors, the Chongqing Marathon, with a history of more than a decade, has been rated as Gold Label Road Race by the International Association of Athletics Federations and Gold Medal Road Race by the Chinese Athletes Association. It is a calling card of the city and the sports of Chongqing. The track of Chongqing Marathon is known as the most beautiful and the PB (personal best) track in China.
