Ambassador of El Salvador to China: We are strong partners

Chongqing - From February 1 to 3, Ambassador of El Salvador to China  Aldonov F. Alvarez visited Chongqing and some automobile, medical technology, and coffee enterprises. The ambassador said, "We will strengthen our ties in all fields, like trade,  investment, culture, academics, tourism, etc. This is the beginning of more comprehensive cooperation between our people."

In 2022, the import and export volume between Chongqing and El Salvador increased by 45.5% yearly. The main products Chongqing exports to El Salvador are laptops and motorcycles. El Salvador, on the other hand, mainly exports agricultural products, especially coffee.

"It's surprising how our trade has increased in recent times, especially last year, "the ambassador added,"I think Chongqing now is racing up. The economy is doing good due to the right public policies having been adopted recently, and we want to learn about how you did it so well."

For example, the ambassador mentioned China's policy to alleviate poverty. "Chongqing has done it very well, and we want to learn about technology in terms of the industry that you have developed, like automobiles, motorcycles, and electronics, and we also wish to increase our exchange of academic experiences and backgrounds. "

"I think that possibilities are unlimited," he said, asserting a firm belief that the cooperation between Chongqing and El Salvador could ultimately conclude in win-win results.

Tourism accounts for a large part of El Salvador's economy. El Salvador has many natural attractions, including beaches with some of the best surfing breaks on the Pacific Coast. "Chinese are very welcomed in El Salvador. We will draft strategies to link local travel agencies," the ambassador added that Chongqing is a beautiful place to visit, so the strategy will be one, especially for Chongqing people.

China and El Salvador established diplomatic relations on August 21, 2018. And the two countries signed relevant documents on the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative cooperation in November 2018. "We are part of the Belt and Road community, and we have benefited from that in many fields," the ambassador said, "one of the most important was the assistance that we got from China during the early times of the pandemic crisis with vaccines. China with a lot of solidarity to assist our country when nobody else in the world was willing to assist El Salvador."

He added that in 2022, many scholarship holders from El Salvador came to China to study at different universities. The Chinese government favors many students from El Salvador through different ways to study in China. "I think 2023 will increase the number, and that's one of the benefits of being part of the Belt and Road community, among many others".

"We are strong partners," he said, "If I continue as an ambassador, I will make all my efforts to strengthen our relations."
