Chongqing - A riverboat loaded with imported pulp from Southeast Asia arrived at a port in Yongchuan District, Southwest China's Chongqing, while an export cargo bus departed on March 1.
So far, the New Land-sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd has cooperated with Lee & Man Paper Manufacturing Limited, a Hong Kong-listed Chinese private papermaking company, for two years.
With China's emphasis on environmental protection, major domestic paper firms started to target the Southeast Asian market and expand the layout of the international supply chain for pulp and paper. As the world's leading containerboard base paper and pulp producer, Lee & Man is no exception.

Lee & Man Paper Manufacturing Limited manufactures packaging paper, such as liner boards, containerboard, and wood pulp. It has paper production plants in Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Jiangxi provinces, as well as in Chongqing and Vietnam.
Two years ago, Lee & Man selected Chongqing's new outbound sea channel, the New International Land-sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC), to import and export goods.
Now, the shipping is faster and cheaper while the supply chain is more stable, said the company's executive director.
Meanwhile, the New Land-sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd customized a set of logistics solutions for them. They used the river-rail-sea multimodal transport to support the company's logistics route.
Through ILSTC, the pulp imported from Southeast Asia will be transported by sea to Qinzhou port and transferred to the rail-sea intermodal train to arrive at Chongqing Guoyuan port and then to Chongqing Yongchuan port by the river.

"This customs clearance mode is more convenient and faster, shortening the transit time by about 15 days," said Huo Jiasong, deputy general manager of the New Land-sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd.
In addition to the convenient and fast import of raw materials, ILSTC also boosts the transportation and export of finished products for enterprises.
Now, the bamboo pulp and toilet paper produced by Lee & Man can be shipped to Guangdong Province, Southeast Asia, and other places via ILSTC, which is beneficial for the company to expand its sales range.
So far, Lee & Man has transported 7,000 twenty-foot equivalent units of goods via ILSTC, becoming one of the largest foreign trade volume enterprises.
