Chongqing and Chengdu Promoting the Integrated Development of Industrial Digitalization | Press Conference

Chongqing - “As a technology innovation company for information service, we will empower the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle to become an economic center with national influence,” said Xia Yong, deputy to the National People’s Congress and chairman of China Mobile Group Chongqing Co., Ltd. at the third special press conference of Chongqing delegation.

Xia continued that China Mobile Group Chongqing Co., Ltd. will focus on accelerating new infrastructure, accelerating digital innovation, and promoting industrial digitalization to help Chengdu-Chongqing build a modern industrial system.

5G network coverage of administrative villages to reach 60%

In recent years, China Mobile Group Chongqing Co., Ltd. has built 30,000 5G base stations, ranking first in west China in the number of 5G base stations per 10,000 people.

By the end of 2023, the 5G network coverage of administrative villages will reach 60%.

In order to accelerate the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, Sichuan and Chongqing jointly compiled the network plan, integrating the layout of information infrastructure in the Chengdu-Chongqing area and carrying out construction for adjacent areas and traffic arteries.

For example, in 2022, Chengdu and Chongqing jointly optimized network coverage of 89 adjacent towns and 12 expressways, with a total mileage of more than 7,500 kilometers.

Integrating 5G application scenarios with production

“5G technology is gradually penetrating from personal information consumption to industrial digitalization, and the scale of 5G industry applications will be further expanded,” Xia said. “We aim to integrate 5G application scenarios with production deeply.”

China Mobile Group Chongqing Co., Ltd. and China Mobile Chengdu Institute of Research and Development have successfully built a smart rural agricultural system with “space-air-ground integration” at the Three Gorges orange Township Garden in Zhongxian County, Chongqing.

“Space-air-ground integration” means that intelligent weather monitoring equipment collects information such as atmospheric temperature, humidity, wind direction, and light in the orchard and responds in time to provide a suitable growing environment for oranges.

Under the 5G network, drones can accurately take pictures of crops and spray pesticides, improving the efficiency of crop planting.

The orchard has also installed weather stations, insect detection lights, greenhouse environment detection sensors, and other equipment to make crop management more refined.
