This summit aims to strengthen the in-depth cooperation between Chengdu and Chongqing and build a powerful platform for private economic exchanges and cooperation. More than 380 political party leaders and well-known entrepreneurs from Sichuan and Chongqing will attend the summit.
"Rongchang District is an important connecting point between Chengdu and Chongqing, bordering seven local counties of Sichuan," said Lei.
Rongchang District is located at the junction of Sichuan and Chongqing. It was nicknamed the "kingdom of cherry-apple trees" and an important gathering place for a major immigration campaign during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It is known as the "Living Fossil of Hakka Culture."
Lei continued that Rongchang District has formed a pillar consumer goods industry, mainly food, clothing, and ceramics. There are three leading industries in biomedicine, electronic information, and intelligent equipment, and a characteristic high-tech industry in agriculture and animal husbandry.
In 2022, the number of private market entities in Rongchang District will reach 72,000, and the output value of regulated private enterprises will exceed 112.9 billion yuan (about USD 16.393 billion).
More small-scale investment cooperations and forums coming
With the rapid growth of the private economy in Chengdu and Chongqing, both places will establish chambers of commerce centered around the leading and emerging industries. They will promote the industrial transformation and upgrading of cutting-edge industries such as intelligent equipment, electronic information, and biomedicine, as well as the development of the digital economy.
"Chengdu and Chongqing will actively play the role of chambers of commerce and carry out a series of collaborations," said Lei. "We will accelerate the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and jointly create an important pole to drive the country's high-quality development."
For instance, Chengdu and Chongqing will organize industry chambers of commerce to strengthen exchanges in terms of industry guidance, information exchange, scientific research collaboration, and project cooperation. They will also provide joint support and assistance to enterprises in need.
Chengdu and Chongqing have issued a notice to promote the registration of county-level non-local chambers of commerce in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. Sichuan entrepreneurs working in Chongqing will register and establish county-level chambers of commerce to further connect Sichuan and Chongqing's Chamber of Commerce channels for developing private economic exchanges.
"In the next step, the Sichuan-Chongqing Federation of Industry and Commerce and chambers of commerce will strengthen regular exchanges and cooperation, such as small-scale investment collaborations and forums," Lei added. "Sichuan and Chongqing will take turns hosting the High-quality Development Cooperation Summit of Private Economy every year."
