By KENNY DONGJAMES ALEXANDER|May 07,2023

Chongqing - The Yongchuan Technology Studio, China's largest digital technology film studio located in Chongqing, has undertaken the production of several domestic and foreign film and television dramas, with its schedule booked until December of this year.

The studio was officially unveiled at the China Film Technology Innovation Summit and the 14th China Film Technology Forum held in Chongqing's Yongchuan District on May 6th.

According to Wang Xin, Director of Dawa Future, who was responsible for on-site performance demonstrations, at least one project was successfully finalized on the day of the summit.

Equipped with extended reality (XR) systems, wearable motion capture systems, and other technical equipment, the Yongchuan Technology Studio is a professional studio specially designed for the entire digital film production process.

With Asia's largest curved LED virtual shooting screen and professional filming and lighting auxiliary equipment, the screen can achieve realistic virtual scenes through digital assets in combination with real-life settings and can simulate indoor and outdoor scenes required by film and television crews. This setup offers an alternative option to the traditional green screen shooting method, providing a more cost-effective solution for certain projects.

On March 30th of this year, Yongchuan District held the China Film Technology Innovation Summit press conference in Beijing, which sparked discussions within the film industry. Yongchuan, without a talent base for the film industry, has piqued the curiosity of industry insiders about its development.

The development of Yongchuan's film and television industry is based on a local technology company, Dawa Future (Chongqing) Imaging Technology Co., Ltd., serving as the technical provider of the Yongchuan Technology Studio.

In 2014, Lu Qi, the company's founder, was still a graduate student at Renmin University of China. His love for Hollywood movies led him to gather a group of young people to develop visual digital content production technology with AI features as the main focus "to improve the industrialization level of China's visual digital content production," according to his ambitious words.

The district government has provided tremendous support for the company in its external investment attraction work, including but not limited to providing office space and assisting in personnel recruitment.

In January 2019, Dawa Future officially settled in Yongchuan, Chongqing. Its joining has supported for Chongqing to establish a film and television technology industry chain in Yongchuan.

Dawa Future has participated in a series of major digital film projects, like the digital simulation system for the Beijing Winter Olympics opening ceremony and the simulation and emulation system construction for the 70th-anniversary parade of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Yongchuan has also introduced more than 100 film and television technology chain leaders and ecological enterprises such as the Culture and Science Park of Renmin University of China, iQiyi, Perfect World, Jiuzi Culture Communicate, and RayVision.
