Malaysia Prepares to Highlight Its Products and Investment Opportunities at WCIFIT

Chongqing - This year, Malaysia is preparing to take center stage as the guest country of honor at the Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT), scheduled to run from May 18th to 21st in Chongqing. Mr. Loh Wee Keng, Chairman of the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China, has expressed his country's pride in this distinguished role. He confirmed that 34 Malaysian companies, spanning the service industry and various product sectors, along with government agencies, will be participating in this year's fair.

The array of products to be displayed includes palm oil products, durians, bird's nests, pre-packaged and processed foods, supplements, and beauty products. In addition, five Malaysian universities and several tourism industry representatives will also be attending the fair.

Beyond showcasing products, Mr. Loh emphasized Malaysia's interest in bolstering its investment cooperation with Europe and countries along the Belt and Road Initiative. This will be achieved by leveraging the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) and the China Railway Express.

The ILSTC will notably reduce transportation time for products destined for Chongqing, Nanning, and Yunnan. This efficiency will facilitate Malaysia's efforts to enhance future bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The Malaysian delegation eagerly anticipates participating in the fair, hoping to present its products and investment opportunities to Chinese investors. "We plan to send additional business delegates and investment agencies, including our MIDA (Malaysian Investment Development Authority) and MATRADE (Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation). They are set to establish offices in Chinese cities such as Chengdu, Xi'an, and Kunming," Mr. Loh revealed.
