The Chongqing Children's Day Colorful Run is part of the "Run, Kids!" series of activities by the Youth Department of the General Administration of Sport of China and one of the events in the Chongqing Marathon series.

The Chongqing Children's Day Colorful Run encourages young people to participate in sports and improve their physical fitness through running. Organizing parent-child runs aims to enhance emotional communication between parents and children, fostering stronger parent-child relationships. Additionally, it seeks to promote the integrated development of "Healthy China" through nationwide fitness, the integration of sports and education in schools, and healthy community environments through collaboration between families, schools, and communities.

Building upon the success of previous parent-child runs, the 2023 "Run, Kids!" Chongqing Children's Day Colorful Run introduced a new category: road roller skating. This addition brought even more excitement to the parent-child sports event.

The event attracted over 4,000 participants, including 3,000 parent-child pairs and 1,000 roller skaters from more than 1,800 families.

The starting point for the parent-child run was set at Dongyuan 1891 Commercial Plaza, passing through the Longmenhao Old Street and turning back before the Ciyun Temple Bridge. The finish line was located at Haitang Yanyu Park, covering a total distance of approximately 4.2 kilometers.

Notably, the commemorative medals for this event continued the tradition of the classic blind box format from the previous Colorful Runs. In addition to three designs inspired by childhood memories, such as wind-up frogs, bubble gum, and lollipops, a new medal was introduced this year. The innovative design of the medals delighted both parents and children, as they were distributed in blind boxes, bringing continuous surprises and laughter to the event.

In addition to running and roller skating activities, the 2023 "Run, Kids!" Chongqing Children's Day Colorful Run also featured supporting events to create a sports carnival, such as making Chen's Mahua or fried dough twist. This delicious traditional Chinese snack is renowned for its unique and crisp taste. Under the guidance of professionals, 150 children experienced the traditional process of making Chen's Mahua.
