China Industrial Software Conference to Open in Chongqing

Chongqing - With the theme of Software Innovation Manufacturing: Shaping the Future of Intelligent Connectivity, the 3rd China Industrial Software Conference will hold on June 20 in Chongqing, Southwest China, according to Tuesday's press conference.

The conference attracts participation from over 30 renowned experts and scholars in industrial software, including academicians and representatives from more than 200 key enterprises in the industrial software sector.

According to Wang Lidong, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Municipal Economic and Information Commission, as a nationwide platform for exchange, China Industrial Software Conference promotes innovation, facilitating the digital transformation of China's manufacturing sector.

Wang said that in 2022, Chongqing achieved revenue of 303.6 billion yuan (about USD 42.41 billion) from its main software business, with software-related revenue reaching 270.5 billion yuan (about USD 37.78 billion), representing a growth rate of 10.5% compared to the previous year.

Over 3,500 new software and information service enterprises were established, providing employment opportunities for more than 50,000 professionals.

By April 2023, the city had achieved a software industry revenue of 80.65 billion yuan (about USD 11.27 billion), marking a year-on-year growth rate of 16.5%.

More than 1,500 new software enterprises were established, contributing to additional revenue of 16.85 billion yuan (about USD 2.35 billion) in the software industry. The number of newly employed personnel exceeded 20,000, with over 280,000 personnel.

Attracting professionals in the software and information services industry

"To attract more talents in emerging industries such as software and information services, Yuzhong District has invested 700 million yuan (about USD 97.78 million) in building 1,440 sets of Yuzhong Talent Apartments," said Luo Yi, Deputy Chief of Yuzhong District. "All of them are expected to be available by July this year."

Currently, the first batch of over 300 sets has been fully occupied. "We are enhancing the supply of young and trendy consumer scenes, such as cafes, restaurants, and bars, around the buildings in the software and information services industry to meet better the work, life, and consumption needs of software and information services talents in the district," Luo added.

Looking ahead, Chongqing is committed to relying on technological innovation, enterprise cultivation, application promotion, and ecological development to foster the high-quality development of the industrial software sector.

Concrete measures include supporting local companies' participation in major national industrial software projects, striving for breakthroughs in core technologies, enhancing the independent innovation capabilities of the industrial software value chain, and promoting the selection and application of outstanding software and demonstration projects.

Other measures involve supporting the establishment of open-source projects and introducing open-source communities. Emphasis is placed on the cultivation of high-end talent and talent aggregation.

"We will continue to optimize the development environment for industrial software, enhance the supply capacity of industrial software products, and promote the construction of industrial internet platforms, providing robust safeguards for Chongqing's manufacturing industry in its digital and intelligent transformation," Wang said.
