Chongqing - A total of 14 key investment projects were newly signed in the Western (Chongqing) Science City with a contract investment amounting to 22.7 billion yuan (USD 3.16 billion) on June 20, covering key areas like core components for intelligent connected new energy vehicles, high-tech services, and biopharmaceuticals, among other emerging sectors.

Among them, QCraft's southwest headquarters project will establish an autonomous driving operation service network and autonomous driving research and development center in the region.
QCraft is the only domestic technology enterprise in the Science City and its founding team comes from Waymo, a leading global autonomous driving company. With outstanding innovation capabilities, the project is expected to fill the gap in autonomous driving public transportation and pre-installation mass production.
In addition, there are other projects, including the national headquarter of GeneScience Pharmaceutical medical equipment sector, GenVista's digital genetic testing center, and IAE's autonomous driving simulation test project.
"We will target the top 500 companies nationwide, the top 500 private enterprises, and industry leaders, focusing on key regions such as the Yangtze River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, said the representative of the Investment Promotion Group.
"We will precisely attract leading companies in the supply chain, headquarters projects, and projects to strengthen and extend the industrial chain," he continued.
Since the beginning of this year, the Western (Chongqing) Science City has achieved results in investment attraction. According to the Administrative Committee of Chongqing High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, a total of 29 investment projects were signed in the core area of the Science City in the first quarter, with a contract investment amounting to 36.133 billion yuan.
Starting from the second quarter, the Chongqing Science City Investment Promotion Group has established a "special team system" to coordinate and be responsible for the industrial layout, investment attraction, incubation, and guarantee of factors for each specialized team in its industrial chain.
This aims to better attract leading projects in segmented fields of focus, which include integrated circuits, biopharmaceuticals, core components for intelligent connected new energy vehicles, new types of intelligent terminals, high-tech services, and future industries.
The Western (Chongqing) Science City is Chongqing's newest economic development zone. It is located in the western valley of the central urban area of Chongqing and encompasses multiple functional areas, including the National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone and Pilot Free Trade Zone.
