Chongqing Ranks 9th in China for Overall Digital Development

Chongqing -  Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality has achieved the 9th spot among 31 provincial regions in terms of overall digital development, marking its place in the country's top tier of digitalization development. This comes from the 2022 Digital China Development Report, released by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC).

The report highlights ten significant achievements in Chongqing's digital economy and internet progression over the past year. These include the expedited upgrade of digital infrastructure, the structured progress of data resource sharing and utilization, the consistent growth of the digital economy, and the broadening of digital society application scenarios.

Chongqing boasts 19 5G base stations per 10,000 people

In 2022, Chongqing made significant strides in developing a systematic, comprehensive, efficient, practical, intelligent, and environmentally-friendly digital infrastructure system. The city witnessed notable improvements in the network scale, algorithms, application infrastructure, and service capacity.

Chongqing boasts 19 5G base stations per 10,000 people, ranking 7th nationwide in coverage. The penetration rate of 5G users reached 40.3%, and the computational power scale achieved a remarkable 4.07E.

The city's national-level identification and resolution node (Chongqing) continued to expand. By the end of 2022, it had established connections with ten provinces and cities in western China and 38 secondary nodes, with nearly 15 billion logo registrations.

Furthermore, Chongqing's internet user base surpassed 23.52 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 7.2%.

Chongqing ranks 12th in the country in the digital economy 

Chongqing's digital economy experienced notable growth, ranking 12th in the country in a comprehensive evaluation. This has emerged as a new driving force for the city's high-quality development.

The digital industry clusters in Chongqing continue to expand, with the production capacity of power semiconductor wafers and panels leading the country.

The integration of the digital and real economy is accelerating. In 2022, the city implemented 1,407 projects focused on intelligent transformation and identified 22 smart factories and 160 digital workshops. The penetration rate of smart factories reached 43%, ranking sixth nationwide.

Furthermore, Chongqing has made continuous efforts to improve its data system. It established the western data trading center to facilitate public data sharing.

In 2022, the city's comprehensive data resource score ranked 13th nationally. Moreover, 68 municipal and departmental data resource pools were established, with the average daily call volume of shared data exceeding 13 million. Chongqing's data openness is at the forefront of the country.
