Chongqing- Recently, Chongqing Institute for Brain and Intelligence has been based in Nanan District, Chongqing. It focuses on brain interpretation, rehabilitation, regulation, and simulation and lays out several platforms, including the frontier institute of Brain and Intelligence, the clinical research hospital, and the brain and intelligence institute.
Previously, the International Academy of Neutron Science (Chongqing) was unveiled in the Western (Chongqing) Science City, while the sizeable scientific device for ultra-high-flow vital steady-state deuterium-tritium neutron source was also under construction.
The neutron science industry cluster involving life sciences, materials science, aerospace, and other fields is rising in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.

Breakthrough in core technology
Peking University Chongqing Big Data Research Institute launched a high-profile software product named Beitai Tianyuan, the first scientific computing software with independent intellectual property rights in China.
"Beitai Tianyuan has filled the technical gap of domestic scientific computing software in general-purpose software and can provide a high-quality and reliable scientific computing environment for scientists and engineers in various fields," said Lu Tiao, an officer from the Institute.
The first Beidou short message radio frequency baseband chip was also developed here. A chip the size of a sesame enables ultra-long-distance communication between a smartphone and a Beidou satellite 36,000 km away.
The Chongqing government implemented a new approach to accelerate core technology breakthroughs this April. A significant project can apply for government financial funding up to 30 million yuan (about 4.2 million U.S. dollars) and 5 million yuan, respectively.
"This year, the city is focusing on artificial intelligence, high-end devices, and chips, biomedicine, as well as new energy, new materials, and ecological environment," said an official from the Chongqing Science and Technology Bureau.
Invest First, Share Dividends Next
This early July, the Chongqing government invested seven million yuan on four projects from the Western (Chongqing) Science City, a single project of up to two million yuan.
"'Invest first, shares dividends next' is a new model to solve funding problems during the transformation of scientific and technological achievements," said Deng Minjun, director of the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of Chongqing High-Tech Zone.
He added that the new modal injects funds into the project as an investment. The investment will convert to shares to grow with the project. When the project is mature, the government will gradually withdraw.
Graphene modified water-based industrial paint research and development project is one of the four projects that received two million yuan in funding. The project belongs to Chongqing Tudujia Technology Co., Ltd.
"We are in the critical stage of product development to batch production trial, and shortage of funding. Thanks to the government's help, we get enough funds to guarantee the production," said Lan Wei, professor at Chongqing Institute of Science and Technology and general manager of Tudujia Technology.
In 2022, Chongqing's scientific and technological progress contribution rate increased from 58% in 2019 to 60.3%. The city's comprehensive science and technology innovation level index remains the seventh in the country for four consecutive years.
