Aligning with manufacturing powerhouses
"Italy and Germany are significant economies in Europe. Their automotive, machinery and equipment, and other manufacturing industries serve as the pillar industries of these two nations. The high-quality development direction and broad cooperation prospects of Chongqing's manufacturing industry align closely with these two countries, which is why we target investment in Italy and Germany," said Yang Zixuan, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Investment Promotion.
From June 29 to July 5, the delegation visited nearly ten key institutions and enterprises in Italy and Germany, including SWM Motorcycle, Komar Robotics, Webasto, and Marelli Automotive Lighting Systems.
These enterprises span a wide range of industries, such as intelligent networked new energy vehicles and parts and industrial machinery.
Focusing on smart, networked new energy vehicles
Webasto Europe AG, a Germany-based global leader in the automotive smart sunroof industry, has a branch in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area. During their visit, the delegation proposed further cooperation in producing intelligent automotive parts and components and advancing green manufacturing.
While in Italy, the investment delegation had an in-depth discussion with Komar Robotics Co. regarding their potential investment in Chongqing to establish a robot manufacturing base.
The relevant representative from Komar Robotics explained that Komar's industrial robotics application areas encompass automotive manufacturing, the electronics industry, and machine automation. The company holds over 100 patents, operates 32 centers, 14 manufacturing plants, and 5 R&D centers to serve major automotive manufacturers worldwide.
Chongqing is currently developing a top-tier domestic robot application demonstration base and industrial innovation and development demonstration zone. This initiative has attracted over 300 key enterprises from the robotics industry chain, such as GSK, Wasu, Kawasaki Motorcycles, and Fanuc. By the end of 2022, the city's robot production exceeded 60,000 units, and the industrial chain's output value surpassed 30 billion yuan (about 4.2 billion U.S. dollars).

The conference attracted over 20 enterprises and institutions related to auto parts, electronics, third-party testing, and education consulting, such as Nedschroef, Blue Sky Solar, and Jiaxin Commerce.
Rosario Strano, General Director of the Banco San Paolo China Program, stated they would strengthen cooperation with the Chongqing Industrial Science and Technology Fund and Industrial Investment Mother Fund, building on the established China-Italy Industrial Cooperation Fund.
