Chongqing - The Western (Chongqing) Science City is developing its AI sector, with the industry's revenue this year expected to surpass three billion yuan (about USD 417.6 million), according to the Chongqing High-tech Zone.
"Multi-L" ensures accurate and professional text outputs
On July 13, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Chongqing Institute of Artificial Intelligence made a groundbreaking announcement at the Western (Chongqing) Science City with the unveiling of their latest research achievement, the "Multi-L" AI model.
This marks Chongqing's first independently developed large language model and the institute's inaugural product launch since its establishment in science city.
"Multi-L" is the latest outcome of Shanghai Jiao Tong University's research and development efforts in AI large model technology, which leads globally, said Professor Jin Shi, Dean of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Chongqing Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Chief Scientist.

Through extensive data accumulation and the application of unique data processing and AI training techniques, "Multi-L" ensures accurate and professional text outputs. Furthermore, it possesses the ability to interact with applications through natural language selection, empowering the creation of personalized intelligent products.
Since being based in Western (Chongqing) Science City in March 2022, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Chongqing Institute of Artificial Intelligence has been establishing a comprehensive high-end AI industry platform.
This platform aims to foster the development of collaborative innovation platforms, such as research and development centers, key laboratories, and engineering technology research centers, with regional characteristics and industrial support capabilities.
Replacing human eyes with machine vision for defects
At the Western (Chongqing) Science City, numerous enterprises are fully embracing AI and gradually transitioning from "life-scenario" applications to "productivity-scenario" advancements.
This transition has resulted in the creation of an AI product ecosystem built on foundational, intermediate, and application layers.
"Replacing human eyes with machine vision to detect defects has significant implications for enhancing the efficiency of woven bag production," said the relevant person in charge of Chongqing Senluo Zhitong Technology Co., Ltd. "Hence, the development of an AI-based woven bag surface defect detection system is of paramount importance."
Chongqing Senluo Zhitong Technology Co., Ltd. teamed up with HUAWEI Ascend AI to create an intelligent defect detection system for woven bags based on the MindSpore AI framework.
This system addresses the practical needs of woven bag manufacturers, detecting defects and overcoming issues related to manual inspections, such as fatigue, individual differences, and poor repeatability. By employing intelligent quality inspections, the system aids enterprises in elevating product quality standards.
