Chongqing - An eco-friendly future is on the horizon for Chongqing, and all new constructions in Chongqing will meet green building standards by 2027, according to the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development at a press conference on August 3.
Furthermore, in a step toward sustainable urban planning, the city aims for 35% of new construction to be prefabricated by 2027, an official from the Commission declared.

Manufacturing industry index above the national average
Chongqing's ambitions extend beyond urban development, with a city-wide push for high-quality development. It has rolled out an implementation plan to enhance product, project, and service quality and to fortify its economic muscle. By 2027, Chongqing anticipates leading the nation in industrial quality competitiveness, with remarkable improvements in product and engineering quality and significant advancements in service quality.
A key part of the plan involves food safety. Chongqing mandates a pass rate exceeding 98% for agricultural product quality and food sampling tests. Additionally, the target for the quality competitiveness index of the manufacturing industry has been set above 92. Currently, at an impressive 89.48, Chongqing surpasses the national average of 84.91, showcasing its leadership in Western China.
Li Jianping, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Development and Reform Commission, stressed the goal of nurturing several signature Chongqing brands. Li envisions these brands to represent innovation, high-end quality, exceptional reputation, and extensive market recognition, thus accelerating Chongqing's global influence.
120 production bases for high-quality agrarian products by 2025
Committed to employing advanced manufacturing technologies, Wang Lidong, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Economic and Information Technology Commission, disclosed plans to establish 50 intelligent factories, 500 digital workshops, 200 green factories, 50 "green + smart" demonstration factories, and 20 green parks by 2027.
Chongqing has a strong track record of promoting green and organic agricultural products, with over 3,313 green food products, 156 organic agricultural products, and 70 geographical indication agricultural products currently in circulation. The city has set a goal to establish 120 production bases of high-quality farm products by 2025, forming a robust supply system.
To remain one of China's top three cities for tourist satisfaction, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development plans to enhance service quality through training programs and stimulate tourism consumption via promotional activities and the distribution of coupons.
