Within 40 Minutes, Imported Live Grass Shrimp were Cleared for Market in Chongqing

Chongqing - As a cargo plane from Bangkok landed in Chongqing on July 28, customs inspectors conducted supervision of its live grass shrimp on board immediately. Within 40 minutes, the shrimp were cleared for release, with a survival rate of over 95%.

Since Chongqing was designated as an international consumption center, the Chongqing Customs District has enhanced its supervision and services, resulting in a more seamless experience for citizens receiving imported goods.

Chongqing has proposed to build itself into a globally renowned city for its shopping atmosphere, food, exhibitions, tourism, and culture, as well as an international consumption center city with local features that radiate western China and is particularly open to Southeast Asia and South Asia.

Meeting the high logistics demands of imported fresh goods, customs authorities established a specialized green channel for food items. Collaborative efforts with airlines, security inspection, and other relevant departments further bolstered the efficiency of customs clearance.

As a result, a steady flow of frozen goods, including Vietnamese pangasius and Brazilian beef, quickly found their way to Chongqing Guoyuan Port. Swift customs clearance allowed these products to reach major supermarkets promptly, delighting Chongqing citizens with quick access to these delicacies.

"The river-ocean combined transport led to smoother logistics and faster customs clearance, which can reduce enterprise costs and improve product freshness," said a logistics firm.

Capitalizing on these advantages, companies now leverage Guoyuan Port to import frozen goods directly into China's Southwest market. This is expected to cause a significant surge in Chongqing's import of frozen products.

Guoyuan, the only port-type national logistics hub in the western region, has allowed Chongqing to form a trade bridge linking Central Asia, Europe, and the ASEAN market by combining water, rail, road, and air transportation modes.

The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC), China Europe Railway Express, and the Yangtze River Golden Waterway have been seamlessly connected through Guoyuan Port, thus providing export-oriented enterprises with high-efficiency, diversification, and low-cost logistics services.
