On August 9, Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Chongqing, met with Normat Tursunov, Governor of Navoiy Region, Uzbekistan, and his delegation. They signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on establishing friendly and cooperative relations between Chongqing and Navoiy Region.

On behalf of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, Hu Henghua expressed his heartfelt thanks to those who had supported the establishment of friendly and cooperative relations between the two places. He said that in May this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed in talks with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev that China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to deepen all-round cooperation and build a China-Uzbekistan community with a shared future.
The signing of the MoU represents a solid effort to implement the important consensus reached by the two countries' leaders and to deepen local cooperation between the two countries.
Chongqing is thoroughly implementing the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, accelerating the implementation of national strategies such as the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, and striving to play a leading role in the Belt and Road co-construction.
Chongqing is ready to strengthen further economic, trade, and people-to-people exchanges with Navoiy Region and expand cooperation scope in machinery manufacturing, automobile and motorcycle, logistics, digital economy, education, culture, tourism, and other fields. Hu also welcomed Uzbek political and business groups to attend Chongqing's 2023 Smart China Expo.
Governor Normat Tursunov said that Navoiy Region is one of the largest industrial centers in Uzbekistan. He hoped that taking the signing of the MoU as an opportunity, Navoiy Region would further deepen its friendly exchanges with Chongqing at all levels and strengthen its cooperation with Chongqing in industrial parks, mining, new energy, agriculture, and construction. He also welcomed Chongqing enterprises to invest in Navoiy Region.
