Chongqing and COMAC Discuss Collaboration on Building An International Aviation Hub

Chongqing - On August 16, the Chongqing Municipal People's Government held a meeting with Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. (COMAC) to discuss expanding collaborative opportunities on jointly developing the large aircraft industry ecosystem, establishing an international aviation hub, and promoting industry upgrading, thereby contributing to the development of domestically produced large aircraft.

COMAC, a prominent enterprise specializing in the design, research, production, modification, flight testing, sales, maintenance, services, technology development, and consultancy in civil aviation, holds a comprehensive engagement in civilian aircraft production and sales, including associated leasing and financial services.

Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Chongqing Municipal Committee, emphasized the diversity of industries, the convergence of various talents, and the substantial developmental prospects Chongqing offers. 

Especially, Chongqing is fostering high-quality integrated development in the Western Part of Chongqing, promoting the construction of a digital Chongqing, and establishing the "33618" modern manufacturing cluster system.

The "33618" modern manufacturing cluster system of Chongqing is to form three dominant industrial clusters for electronic information manufacturing, intelligent connected and new energy vehicles, and advanced materials. Chongqing is strengthening efforts to foster its six key industrial sectors.

Yuan continued that COMAC carries the significant mission of propelling the development of the domestic large aircraft industry, and the potential for cooperation with Chongqing is immense. Chongqing is committed to deepening the communication and coordination with COMAC, expanding collaborative opportunities.

He Dongfeng, the Chairman and Secretary of the Party Committee of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), underscored the company's dedicated endeavors in advancing key tasks, including the industrialization of large aircraft. These tasks encompass scalability, serialization, autonomy, controllability, safety, and reliability. 

He emphasized that COMAC is seizing the opportunities presented by the energy and information technology revolutions as it accelerates the progression of the domestic large aircraft industry.

He further assured that COMAC would reinforce its strategic alignment with Chongqing, deepening cooperation in advanced materials, academia-industry research collaboration, aviation operational support capacity building, and more.
